This article analyzes the polysemy of toré, an Amerindian dance widely performed in the Northeastern region of Brazil. I approach it in the diversity of its expressions: a ritual, a political dance, and a cultural representation. The theme of “struggle” makes it possible to cover all these meanings without being limited to the political issue. In this dynamic Amerindian art, political and cosmic struggles combine in a single movement.
