Our “ethnographic detour” into Japan affords to question what the observation of everyday practices of another people, distant as they may be, may teach about our own. This day-to-day routine exposes, beyond the immediate perception, deep social and cultural forms when they are expressed both in the vernacular language and in that of the space.
