Architecture as a brand of contemporary luxury: an overview
By Matteo Stagnoli
English
This paper suggests to interpret architecture as an expression of contemporary luxury. Drawing on examples of architecture from luxury brands in France and Italy, it will question architecture in its current urban inscription, its position within the avant-garde, the symbolic role of the architectural showcase and the choice represented by architecture as a language that describes and demonstrates luxury. The sociological approach helps to highlight the importance of architecture as a brand in the contemporary luxury cityscape.
