Ecofeminism: discourses and actions
Ecofeminism: the term, which was coined in France by Françoise d’Eaubonne in 1974 in France re-emerged in the US in the late 1970s to reference a wide variety of feminist movements tackling environmental issues. Such movements can be found across the world, and have been globalized by climate justice rallies. That women and nature share a common oppression is the key discovery of ecofeminism and the task of ecofeminist academics as well as activists has been to expose the logic underpinning domination as well as its historical, cultural and social roots. Ecofeminist struggles are emancipation struggles. They aim at impugning the negative association formed between women and nature to overturn it into a political weapon potentially available for everyone to press demands.
