Human-animal relations and the biosecurity ambition

Since the 1970s, the increasing new outbreaks of infectious diseases of animal origin spreading into humans has led to the adoption of the One Health concept in international health governance. The article shows that its implementation fundamentally relies on biosecurity measures that weakens its impact. In particular, animal health continues to be approached in an anthropocentric way, which does not allow for reshaping the humans-animals relationship.
