Plant communication : biology and performativity

This article analyzes plant communication among plants and with other species. It explores the recent scientific interest on the issue and the phenomenon is analyzed by mobilizing the resources of ecology, plant physiology, ethology and ordinary language philosophy. Then the differences and analogies between human language and plant communication are investigated using the tools of Austin’s speech act theory.
