Childhoods and old age on the stages of Romeo Castellucci

Romeo Castellucci’s stages bustle with extra-ordinary bodies, in particular the bodies of young children and old people, more specifically present in the performances tackling the Scripture. My hypothesis is that those bodies, as they become part of Castellucci’s theatrical compositions, allow him to further explore one of the main questionings in his theatre : how to create unseen images, wildly incarnated, often so outrageously that they force the audience to consider what is otherwise collectively suppressed.
