“Young” visual artists in France : how are their trajectories impacted by age ?

Young visual artists engage in various channels of legitimization that exert a marked influence on their insertion into the French contemporary art scene. This article, based on a segmentation of youth into four age groups, reveals that the trajectories of young visual artists are punctuated by as many stages necessary to their artistic and commercial recognition in a highly competitive environment.
