The United Nations’ sustainable development goals: A renewed approach to human rights?

Both human rights’ international law and sustainable development emerged at different times and in different legal and political spheres. As a result, they have developed ignoring each another. However, the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015 achieved a conceptual leap by associating them closely. The new human rights-based approach to sustainable development is altering, to some extent, the human rights approach itself.
