Positions of the Researcher in the Memory and Heritage Process-building of Migrations. Revisiting Reflexivity
I. A New Valuation Process of Migration Pasts?
By Irène Dos SantosEnglish
The role of the researchers in the process of promotion of the “memories” of migrations has been the object of reflexive analyses in various types of research such as the history of immigration, the anthropology of migrations and the socio-anthropology of heritage. They shed light on different ambitions and epistemological positions which raise the question of the researcher’s engagement. By revisiting an ethnography research on Portuguese migration to France carried out ten years ago, the author puts into perspective her relationship to her object of research being the daughter of migrants, as well as a critical approach to memory.
