Exploring with a medical anthropological approach the dokhmenashini Parsi’s ritual (Mumbai), the author shows the ambivalence of the dead body, both respectable and impure. During the funerals, the corpse is the subject of a struggle between good and evil which indicates the action of malefic forces (Druj-i-Nasush) that increases the suspicion around the deceased.
