Corpses in Art

In mundane representations, mortal remains are in general “problematic”. In the domains of creativity and leisure, on the contrary, their presence and visibility are all-pervasive. This is particularly patent in contemporary visual arts. In this paper, we will thus discuss the way the corpse is presented to us, entirely or in part, in its most realistic, or rather most real, materiality.
