The Biological Blur
After examining the interactions of light and live tissues, the objective results of my research led me to question the relationship between the living and the major determinants of its environment. While determinism and positivism preside over biology and medicine, the infinite variability of the living, as well as the random adaptive responses, push the envelope of the current paradigm. Mainly consistent with the infectious challenge of the past centuries, the latter allows but limited results, despite disproportionate efforts. Maybe it is time to reconsider the living as a site of unforeseeable exchanges and of uncertain consequences, constantly balancing and fine-tuning with its environment, instead of a set of pieces detached and reassembled in an immutable logical order.
