Female Nudes in Motion
By Julie Perrin
English
Nude dance on stage revives and changes issues raised by the use of the body in 1960s performances, particularly at the Judson Dance Theater. Using the works of Robert Morris, Carolee Schneemann, Vera Mantero and Gaà lle Bourges as starting points, this article analyses the aesthetic, legal or moral order that is challenged by the nude. Setting the nude in motion is at the heart of debates on everyday life, feminism and art history.
