From “Crisisology” to “Riskology”
By Jean-Philippe Bouilloud

In his paper “Pour une Crisologie” (1976), Edgar Morin calls for the creation of a discipline capable of apprehending crises and reconciling and overcoming social life antagonisms. Although social sciences focused de facto on “crises” (social, economic, political . . . ), they haven’t done that by adopting the perspective advocated by him. In their topics, they have not privileged the effectiveness of the crisis, but its potentiality, i.e., the risk (psychosocial, environmental . . . ).
