From Sound Landscape to Sonotopes
Territorialization of Sound and the Identity Construction of a Social Housing Neighborhood
By Philippe WoloszynEnglish
Applying geotopical and proxemical analysis to a living space landscape, this paper presents the attributes of the identity of an acoustical environment as they could be measured in a neighborhood of mainly social housing in Nantes. Using a multimedia participative Web 2.0 inquiry tool—?the sonic ambient generator—the sonotopic analysis of the Malakoff area revealed the interactions between the inhabitants and people using the space with their day-to-day sound environment.
