The rise of electronic surveillance enabled by the increasingly central role played by computer-mediated social interactions stems from a historical sequence of control devices over individuals and masses. Protecting our privacy thus becomes all the more critical as online social network services have turned self-display into a mundane occurrence and encouraged the compliance with electronic surveillance.
