The Vertigo of the Collusions of a Space of the Sense of Proxemics
A Contribution to the Elaboration
By Frédéric LebasEnglish
Recently, we note that a real and everyday interpenetration exists between two large types of spaces: town and virtual. This situation, where the “being here” is connected, urbi et orbi, deeply modifies our interior sensorialities. It raises the inner question of the requalification of our collective sensorium according to an always more successful hybridization regarding technological extensions–?a hybridization which appears through the feeling of presence and of ubiquity. Vertigo helps us to approach this process as an exaggerated expression of otherness, an indication of fear towards the impenetrable void and infinite, and a loss of human dimension.
