This article proposes a cross-cultural multi-modal theory of sense perception born out of the fusion of cognitive science and sensory anthropology. This theory will be illustrated by reference to the multisensory cosmology and multimodal faculty psychology of the Desana Indians of the Amazonian rainforest.
