The Actor in the Digital Era
What connections can there be between drama and the evolution in technology, aesthetics, and our society in this digital age? What impact do the changes observed have on the actors and the process of creation? If, on the one hand, we consider actors’ and performers’ competition, in addition to the dematerialization and hybridization of theater jeopardize the dramatist’s art, and on the other hand, the intensification of drama, the expression of essential emotions, and the automation of theatrical performance, we conclude with factors that are likely to renew the living art of acting. Proposals to facilitate this revival or renewal are evoked and include pro-dramatizing, new texts, alternative stage productions, and direct contact with a wider audience . . .
